Vietnamese province assists Chinese region in nCoV fight

Lang Son (VNA) – Vietnam’s northern borderprovince of Lang Son presented 350,000 medical face masks to the Guangxi ZhuangAutonomous Region of China on February 6 to join hands in the fight against the2019 novel coronavirus (nCoV).

At the presentation event at the Huu NghiInternational Border Gate, Secretary of the Lang Son Party Committee Lam ThiPhuong Thanh said her province sympathises with the difficulties that China,including the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is facing in the combat againstthe nCoV-caused acute respiratory disease.

She affirmed that Lang Son, and Vietnam as well,always stands side by side with Chinese forces and localities to synchronouslyand drastically carry out solutions to control the epidemic.

Thanh also called on both sides to keep closecoordination to boost communications to raise their people’s awareness of thedisease while maintaining trading activities.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the GuangxiZhuang Autonomous Region Yang Jinbai appreciated the precious material andspiritual support from Lang Son and Vietnam amid complex developments of thedisease.

He said thanks to this assistance, Guangxi inparticular and China in general will have more momentum to successfully curbthe epidemic.

Earlier, Lang Son had also provided the Chineseside with 265,000 face masks, 500 bottles of isopropyl alcohol, 800 protectivesuits, along with many other medical facilities./.

Tien Giang steps up efforts to eliminate substandard houses

According to the Tien Giang People’s Committee, 485 homes for policy beneficiaries, families of war martyrs, and low-income households will be supported. Of these, 284 new homes will be built, and 201 existing ones repaired, with a total budget of 24.1 billion VND (about 984,000 USD). As of March 6, construction had started on 166 houses, with 32 already completed.

Bac Giang to eliminate substandard houses by November

Local authorities have identified 795 homes of poor and near-poor households and individuals with recognised service to the nation that qualify for support. Of these, 475 require complete reconstruction and 320 need significant repairs, with estimated costs totaling 39 billion VND (1.53 million USD).
