Moscow (VNA) – Vietnam’s commercial exhibition space opened on October 13 in Food City, Russia’s largest food wholesale and retail complex, in Moscow.

At the space, Vietnam introduces nearly 100 producers with a catalogue of agricultural and consumer products like tea, coffee, nuts, seafood, rice, vegetables and fruits.

Speaking at the event, Viktor Kambolov, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Union Businessmen Association, stressed that the opening of the Vietnamese space is an important part of integration processes within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). It also promotes Russia-Vietnam two-way trade, which currently stands at four billion USD.

According Kambolov, the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Vietnam will boost the trade exchange between the union, which comprises Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, and Vietnam as well as expand food and consumer market for member nations.

On her part, Bui Thi Thanh An from Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade introduced key features of the Vietnamese economy to Russian enterprises and hoped that the long-lasting traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia and the Vietnam- EAEU FTA will bring two-way trade between the two countries to 10 billion USD by 2020.

On the occasion, Kambolov and An signed an agreement on working coordination to create favourable conditions for enterprises of the two countries to maximise advantages of the Vietnam-EAEU FTA in the future.-VNA
