The Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba on August 29 hosted a banquet inHavana for Cuban officials and international guests in the hostcountry.

Addressing the event, VietnameseAmbassador Duong Minh highlighted the significance of September 2, 1945when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the Declaration of Independence,giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the SocialistRepublic of Vietnam).

He took the occasion to thankthe Cuban Party, Government and people for their support for andsolidarity with Vietnam in the struggle for national independence inthe past as well as the current development.

Thesame day, the Vietnamese embassy in Cambodia held a ceremony to markthe important event of Vietnam , which saw the presence of Presidentof the National Assembly Heng Samrin and many senior officials from theCambodian government.

Speaking at the ceremony,Vietnamese Ambassador Thach Du expressed his delight at the fineneighbourliness, friendship and all-round cooperation between the twocountries.

He affirmed that Vietnam consistentlypursues a foreign policy of independence and self-reliance, andwillingness to be a friend, a reliable partner and a responsible memberof the international community.

Meanwhile, in theCzech Republic , the Vietnamese Embassy and community organised aplenty of activities celebrating the country’s National Day.-VNA

PM orders focus on key tasks to ensure fulfillment of socio-economic development goals

The Government leader asked for urgent, serious, synchronous and effective implementation of projects, tasks, and solutions outlined in resolutions and conclusions of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, and the Government, especially a supplementary plan for socio-economic development in 2025, aiming for a growth rate of at least 8%.

Stressing that all ministries and localities must achieve a minimum growth rate of 8% to lay the groundwork for double-digit growth in the coming years, PM Pham Minh Chinh requested the Government members to propose measures to stabilise the macroeconomy, curb inflation, promote growth, revitalise both traditional and emerging growth drivers.
