Hanoi (VNA) – Naval ship HQ 012-Ly Thai To of Brigade 162 of the NavalRegion 4 anchored at Tanin Tharyi port in Myanmar on April 3, beginning afriendship visit to the country.

The visit followed the ship’s attendance atthe 2019 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2019)in Langkawi, Malaysia.

Welcoming the first visit of a Vietnamesenaval ship to Myanmar, Deputy Commander of Tanin Tharyi Naval Region Colonel TunLu expressed his hope to see more similar visits to contribute to strengtheningrelations between the two armies and navies.

On the same day, the Vietnamese delegationon the ship, led by Colonel Nguyen Cong Son, Deputy Political Commissar of theNaval Region 4, paid courtesy visits to Commander of Tanin Tharyi Naval Region- Zwe Win Myint, Commander of Myeik Coastal Military Zone - Maj. Gen. ThaungHtike Shwe, and Minister in charge of security and border affairs of TaninTharyi region - U Kyaw Zaya.

At the meetings, representatives fromMyanmar’s Navy appreciated the Vietnamese Navy’s goodwill to foster friendshipand cooperation between the two navies by sending ship HQ 012-Ly Thai To tovisit Myanmar.

Son showed his belief that the visit willhelp intensify mutual understanding and trust between the two armies, and boostcollaboration between the two navies.

The Vietnam People’s Navy wants to maintainexchange and cooperation activities with the Myanmar side so as to promotebilateral defence cooperation as well as Vietnam-Myanmar relations, he said. -VNA
