VN-Russia ties improve much over past decade

Vietnam and Russia relations over the past decade have been improved to a strategic cooperation level after several years when Russia “seemed to be far away from” Vietnam.

The Voice of Russia (VOR) on March 13 aired the remark while reviewing the two countries’ relations over the past 60 years.

Cooperative and friendly ties between Vietnam and Russia contributed to Vietnam ’s victories in the two struggles against the French and US invaders and great economic achievements after the war, affirmed the radio.

The largest barrier hindering the Vietnam-Russia economic cooperation now is the shortage of information about economic potentials of both countries, VOR cited Anatoly Voronin, expert at the Federation Council of Russia, as saying.

Vietnamese and Russian scientists should share experiences and warn against risks in doing business in each country, Voronin said while mentioning a seminar entitled “ Vietnam and Russia ties: History, Present and Prospects” held in Hanoi recently.

The seminar discussed various issues in the two countries’ relations, including both achievements in cooperation and problems Vietnam and Russia should urgently work together to solve.

According to participants at the seminar, Vietnam and Russia now still make use of effective cooperation forms in the past such as working together in large constructions or sending Russian experts to Vietnam./.
