Addressing the signingceremony, VNA General Director Tran Mai Huong said the agreement was inaccordance with bilateral cooperative ties. It also helps VNA toincrease effectiveness of information in French language through itsservices.
The embassy’s support for the sole French-languagedaily in Vietnam , Le Courrier du Vietnam, will help the paper gain astronger position among French-speaking readers, the VNA chief said.
GeneralDirector Huong thanked the Embassy and Ambassador Jean-Francois Giraultfor their interests in the VNA’s publications services and promotingclose ties between the two sides.
Ambassador Jean-FrancoisGirault said the agreement was a result of long-term cooperation betweenVNA and the Embassy, describing it as a foundation for bilateraldurable relations and long-term cooperation in order to increaseinformation and mutual understanding between Vietnam and France .
Throughthe agreement, the embassy will provide VNA with France-relatedinformation to VNA publications services, particularly Le Courrier duVietnam daily, Vietnam Plus online newspaper and French-language TVprogramme, which is expected to be launched on VNA TV channel,contributing to greater vitality for the French-speaking community, theambassador added.
Under the agreement, apart from providingFrance-related information, the Embassy will help seek partners for VNAservices such as Le Courrier du Vietnam, VNA TV channel, VietnamPictorial magazine, and the News for Foreign Service Department.
Theembassy will also help promote Le Courrier du Vietnam to agencies ofFrance and the Francophonie in Vietnam as well as French-speakingorganisations and institutions.
In addition, the embassy willcreate favourable conditions in granting scholarships for media andlanguage courses for VNA journalists, particularly those from LeCourrier du Vietnam.
VNA will use France-related information indifferent areas on all VNA services and increase its coverage of FrenchEmbassy activities as well as French agencies in Vietnam./.
