The event, which brought together more than200 scientists and researchers in the southern region along with localdragon fruit growers, offered attendees a good opportunity to shareexperiences in planting the fruit.
Participants discussed a rethink of the production process in order to more sustainably develop the fruit and expand its market.
Theyalso called on localities throughout the country to grow the fruit inline with the Vietnam Good Agricultural Practice (VietGAP) standardin order to improve its quality and access international markets moreeasily.
They said that if the quality of Vietnam’s dragon fruitis bettered, the product will definitely be able to competitive inforeign markets.
As a product that has great potential forexport, the dragon fruit is being cultivated in 32 provinces and citiesacross the country.
The central province of Binh Thuan and theMekong Delta provinces of Long An and Tien Giang are the largestcultivation areas with 30,000 ha.-VNA
