Phu Quoc Island to welcome international visitors in November

Phu Quoc Island in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang will be the first tourist hotspot in Vietnam to open its doors to foreign visitors with vaccine passports, starting in November. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism held an online working session on October 7 with the local tourism sector on communications work to promote the resort island.

The “Roam Phu Quoc” travel programme kicks off the sector’s “Live Fully in Vietnam” campaign, in which the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Kien Giang province, airlines, and Vietnamese representative offices overseas will optimise online communications tools to enhance tourism promotion in markets of potential in Northeast Asia, Europe, the US, the Middle East, and Australia.

Initially, Phu Quoc will only welcome tourists who have booked package tours organised by travel agencies. They will enter Vietnam by air, on charter or commercial flights.
Kien Giang has selected 14 four and five-star hotels for the pilot programme, with a total capacity of 8,000 rooms. All staff have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19./.
