Binh Dinh (VNA) - The Vallet Scholarship Fund and the Meeting Vietnam organisation presented Vallet scholarships to outstanding students from Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Gia Lai provinces at a ceremony in the south-central province of Binh Dinh on September 29.

Scholarship to pupils, students, and lecturers are worth 11 million VND (475 USD), 19 million VND, and 29 million VND, respectively.

Via video conference, Professor Odon Vallet thanked and congratulated Vietnamese medical staff in the fight against COVID-19.

The Vallet Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Professor Odon Vallet from France’s Sorbonne University, through the Meeting Vietnam organisation. It has been the largest non-governmental scholarship fund in Vietnam over the past two decades.

The professor uses the annual interest from his inheritance to fund scholarships for students posting outstanding academic results in France, Benin, and Vietnam.

More than 33,000 outstanding Vietnamese students and pupils have received Vallet scholarships worth hundreds of billions of VND since 2011. Some 400 have won medals at international Olympiads for the sciences and were admitted to accredited universities. Looking back over the last two decades, nearly 1,500 individuals working in the medical field have received Vallet scholarships./.
