Vallet scholarships granted to Vietnamese students

Binh Dinh (VNA) - The Vallet Scholarship Fund and the MeetingVietnam organisation presented Vallet scholarships to outstanding students fromBinh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Gia Lai provinces at a ceremony in the south-centralprovince of Binh Dinh on September 29.

Scholarship to pupils, students, and lecturers are worth 11 million VND(475 USD), 19 million VND, and 29 million VND, respectively.

Via video conference, Professor Odon Vallet thanked and congratulatedVietnamese medical staff in the fight against COVID-19.

The Vallet Scholarship Fund wasestablished in 2001 by Professor Odon Vallet from France’s Sorbonne University,through the Meeting Vietnam organisation. It has been the largestnon-governmental scholarship fund in Vietnam over the past two decades.

The professor uses the annualinterest from his inheritance to fund scholarships for students posting outstandingacademic results in France, Benin, and Vietnam.

More than 33,000 outstanding Vietnamese students and pupils have receivedVallet scholarships worth hundreds of billions of VND since 2011. Some 400 havewon medals at international Olympiads for the sciences and were admitted toaccredited universities. Looking back over the last two decades, nearly 1,500 individualsworking in the medical field have received Vallet scholarships./.
