Domestic airports serve 3.6 million passengers during Tet holiday

During the Tet holiday, Tan Son Nhat International Airport served approximately 1.38 million passengers while Noi Bai International Airport processed around 900,000 passengers, and Da Nang International Airport handled over 381,000 passengers.

Hanoi (VNA) – Domestic airports served almost 3.6 million passengers during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday from January 24 to February 2, up 16% over the same period last year, reported the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Notably, Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City served approximately 1.38 million passengers while Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi processed around 900,000 passengers, and Da Nang International Airport in central Da Nang city handled over 381,000 passengers, respectively rising 7.6%, 12%, and 26%.

During the Tet period, Tan Son Nhat operated between 824 and 970 take-offs and landings per day, with an average of 138,000 passengers daily. A new record was set on January 24 (the 25th day of the last lunar month and also the final working day before the holiday), when this airport saw 1,002 take-offs and landings, a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2024, and served 152,000 passengers, a 13% increase.

The total passenger volume across the market during the Tet holiday reached 2.5 million, up 17.8%, of which 1.35 million were international passengers, a surge of 23%, and 1.14 million were domestic ones, a rise of 12% from a year earlier.

Vietnamese airlines transported over 1.67 million passengers, marking a 12.8% increase, and nearly 7,000 tonnes of cargo, up 4% compared to the same period last year. Of the total, international travel accounted for over 536,000 passengers and more than 3,600 tonnes of cargo, reflecting a 14% rise in passengers and a slight 1.1% increase in cargo. Meanwhile, domestic flights carried over 1.1 million passengers and 3,200 tonnes of cargo, showing respective hikes of 12% and 7.4% in passengers and cargo.

Earlier, to meet the travel demand surge during the peak Tet period, in addition to extending operating hours at local airports, the CAAV had instructed carriers to optimise flight schedules and increase night-time services. Vietnam Airlines scheduled 1,500 flights, VietJet 1,590 flights, and Bamboo Airways 260 flights.

The authority also gave timely response to some delays and cancellations, which were mainly attributed to adverse weather conditions such as fog and low cloud cover in northern airports and overloaded infrastructure, while demanding order and safety for passengers be guaranteed./.

Da Nang tightens fishing vessel management to have EC's IUU yellow card lifted

Under the official dispatch, commune and ward-level authorities must closely monitor every non-compliant fishing vessel within their jurisdiction.
