15th NA's Standing Committee convenes 14th session

The 15th National Assembly (NA)'s Standing Committee convened its 14th session in Hanoi on August 9 afternoon, under the chair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 15th National Assembly (NA)'s StandingCommittee convened its 14th session in Hanoi on August 9 afternoon,under the chair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

In his opening remarks, Hue said that the session will last for two days and a half, during which the committee will look into a draftreport on the outcomes of the thematic supervision of policies and laws onthrift practice and anti-wastefulness for 2016-2021.

This work is scheduled to be scrutinisedduring the 15th NA’s fourth session, expected to open on October 20,he added.

He went on to say that lawmakers will offer opinions onsocio-economic issues regarding the middle-term public investment plan for the2021-2025 period, and the Government’s proposal for policies aimed at employersand employees affected by COVID-19.

Also at this session, the committee will considerthe establishment of Binh Phu township in Cai Lay district in the Mekong Deltaprovince of Tien Giang, and Chon Thanh town and its wards in the southernprovince of Binh Phuoc; and discuss the legislature's report on the work ofombudsmen in July

It will devote the whole day of August 10 for a Q&A session,with focus on matters under the charge of the Ministry of Public Security andthe Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, and heads ofministerial-level agencies will be responding to the questions.

The top legislator said that at the upcoming fourth session of the NA,the legislative work is very important.

Therefore, the NA Standing Committee has decided to hold two thematicsessions on law-making, along with its two regular sessions in August andSeptember. The organisation of the two thematic sessions is to ensure that thecontents are prepared and considered thoroughly and comprehensively./.

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved

A major focus will be preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The NASC will coordinate with the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies and organisations to continue implementing the election plan, organise oversight of the electoral process, and carry out its duties and powers as prescribed.
