- Party General Secretary To Lam on Mach 4 stressed the need to prepare firm theoretical and practical foundations for strategic decisions in a new stage of development towards 2045 and beyond, shaping the orientation for national development through 2130.

The Party chief made the statement while chairing a working session between the steering committee for reviewing 100 years of the Party’s leadership of the Vietnamese revolution (1930–2030) and outlining development orientations for the next century (2030–2130), and reviewing 40 years of implementing the Platform for national construction during the transition to socialism with members of the editorial teams, scientists, experts and relevant agencies. - Vietnam has maintained a positive trajectory in socio-economic performance in February and the first two months of 2026, recording notable results across multiple sectors despite both domestic and global challenges, stated Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh while chairing the Government’s regular meeting on March 4.

The meeting, the first of its kind following the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, was held in person at the Government Headquarters and connected virtually with the People’s Committees of 34 provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide. Read full story

- Politburo member and National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the 2026 military handover and enlistment ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 4.

- Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam Nguyen Van Quang held talks with visiting Ganzorig Damdin, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Mongolia, in Hanoi on March 4.

- As Hanoi accelerates the building of digital government, digital transformation is increasingly becoming a pillar in organising the election of deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026– 2031 tenure, helping enhance transparency, accuracy and voter engagement throughout the process.From voter data management and candidate registration to public communications and information disclosure, digital platforms are being applied across key stages of election preparation.

The use of digital infrastructure enables more systematic and synchronised operations while ensuring voters access reliable and comprehensive information before casting their ballots. Read full story

- Vietnam’s state budget revenue in the first two months of 2026 was estimated at 601.3 trillion VND (about 24.4 billion USD), equivalent to 23.8% of the annual estimate and up 13.1% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Finance.

Of the total, domestic revenue reached 558.1 trillion VND, fulfilling 25.4% of the estimate and increasing 15% compared with the same period last year. Revenue from crude oil was estimated at 5.1 trillion VND, equal to 11.9% of the estimate and down 42.2% year-on-year. Meanwhile, revenue from import-export activities was estimated at 38 trillion VND, equivalent to 13.7% of the estimate and up 1.2% from a year earlier. Read full story

- The 2026 international women’s cycling tournament – Biwase Tour of Vietnam and the 16th Ho Chi Minh City International Women’s Cycling Race – Biwase Cup officially opened on March 4 in Binh Duong ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The events are jointly organised by the Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, and Binh Duong Water and Environment JSC (Biwase). The tournament is held under the supervision of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and, for the second consecutive year, is included in the UCI’s international points system./. Read full story

Key Party official meets with voters in Da Nang

Cao Bang urged to create best conditions for voters during election

As of January 30, all communes and wards in Cao Bang had established 566 constituencies and 566 election teams with 8,976 members to serve the election. On February 16, the provincial Election Committee issued a resolution announcing the official list of 13 candidates for the 16th NA in three constituencies, and 84 candidates for the provincial People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term in 16 constituencies.

Party chief requests theoretical, practical foundations for strategic decisions in new phase

General Secretary Lam emphasised that the commemoration of a century of the country under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and four decades of implementing the national development platform should not be viewed merely as chronological milestones. Rather, they represent the length of a revolutionary journey marked by sacrifice, hardship, creativity and development.

Early voting conducted in most remote offshore platform cluster

Located about 580km northwest of Vung Tau Cape, the Ba Ke shoal hosts three DK1 platforms - DK1/9, DK1/20 and DK1/21 - under the DK1 Battalion of Naval Region 2. The area is among the most remote polling locations on Vietnam’s southern continental shelf.

NA, People’s Council elections: Hue ready for polls

Following consultation rounds, Hue has finalised a list of 17 candidates for the National Assembly, including three nominated by central agencies, 89 candidates for the city People’s Council, and 1,343 candidates for commune- and ward-level People’s Councils.

NA Vice Chairwoman inspects election preparations in Hung Yen province

Thanh urged Hung Yen to continue reviewing and updating voter lists that have been compiled and publicly posted, and promptly correct any shortcomings. Special attention should be paid to shift workers in industrial zones, temporary residents, students, the elderly and persons with disabilities, she stressed, underscoring the need to safeguard citizens’ right to vote.
