Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Party General Secretary To Lam said on March 2 that a new resolution on enhancing the Party's leadership over the prevention and control of corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena will affirm the Party’s special attention to and serve as a “declaration” to continue adamantly intensifying the fight against the “internal enemy” in the new era with renewed thinking and innovative approaches.

The resolution is expected to be approved at the upcoming 2nd meeting of the 14th Party Central Committee. Read full story

- Prime Minister inspected the progress of eastern North–South expressway projects in Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces, and reviewed the implementation of the “Quang Trung Campaign” to address the aftermath of natural disasters in late last year during a working trip to the central region on March 1.

Inspecting sub-projects of the eastern North–South expressway which run through four provinces, including the sections Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon – Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon – Chi Thanh, Chi Thanh – Van Phong, and Van Phong – Nha Trang, with a total length of more than 351 km and total investment exceeding 70.255 trillion VND (over 2.68 billion USD), the PM acknowledged the efforts of ministries, sectors, localities and construction forces for implementing the projects, despite complex weather conditions, challenging terrain and difficulties in construction materials supply. - The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its 55th session at the National Assembly House in Hanoi on March 2.

Chairing and delivering the opening remarks, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man noted that there are only 13 days left before voters head to the polls for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, scheduled for March 15. Read full story

- Several international flights to and from Vietnam have been cancelled or affected as of noon on March 2 due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

Qatar Airways cancelled two passenger flights, QR983 and QR977, and one cargo flight, QR8952/8953, scheduled for March 2. Read full story

According to historical records, the area once served as an operational base for units of Regiments 609, 66, 24 and 320, as well as staff and logistics agencies of the Central Highlands front (B3) during the 1966–1969 period. Between 2020 and 2025, the corps had already recovered remains from 46 martyrs in the Chu Pa mountain area.
