Hung Yen (VNA) – Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Thanh on March 3 called for absolute accuracy in the preparation of voter lists, stressing that in any circumstances, no errors, overlaps or omission of voters should be allowed in the upcoming election to the 16th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.
Leading a working delegation from the NA Standing Committee and the National Election Council, Thanh conducted an inspection of election preparations in Hung Yen province. Following field visits to polling stations in Xich Dang and Tan Hung residential areas in Son Nam ward, the delegation commended the province’s proactive and responsible approach in implementing election-related tasks.
The Vice Chairwoman acknowledged the close leadership of the provincial Election Steering Committee and the effective coordination among relevant agencies and sectors in the work. However, she emphasised that the election is taking place amid the streamlining of the administrative apparatus and the initial operation of the new two-tier local administration model, with many newly assigned officials at the grassroots level. These factors require even stronger leadership, closer direction and a higher sense of responsibility.
Thanh urged Hung Yen to continue reviewing and updating voter lists that have been compiled and publicly posted, and promptly correct any shortcomings. Special attention should be paid to shift workers in industrial zones, temporary residents, students, the elderly and persons with disabilities, she stressed, underscoring the need to safeguard citizens’ right to vote.
She also called on the province to create favourable conditions for candidates to conduct lawful campaigning activities, while proactively mobilising experienced grassroots officials, organising hands-on training, issuing timely guidance documents, mapping polling areas, identifying key localities and developing contingency plans for potential situations.
Enhanced public communication efforts are essential to encourage broad participation of voters, she added.
According to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Le Xuan Tien, the province has established six constituencies for the 16th NA, which will elect 16 deputies; 17 constituencies for the provincial-level People’s Council, which will elect 85 deputies; and 612 constituencies for commune-level People’s Councils, which will elect 2,249 deputies./.
