- Party General Secretary To Lam on March 3 chaired a meeting with the Party Central Committee’s Office and advisory bodies to review the working agenda of the Politburo and the Secretariat, particularly key tasks for the first quarter of 2026 and preparations for the second session of the 14th Party Central Committee.

In his remarks, General Secretary Lam commended the Party Central Committee’s Office and related bodies for their proactive and timely advisory role in formulating and implementing the 2026 working programmes of the Politburo and the Secretariat, as well as in preparing for the upcoming second session. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has stressed that wrongdoings by any individual or organisation must not be allowed to affect the country’s overall efforts to have the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning lifted.

He made the statement while chairing the 32nd meeting of the National Steering Committee on Combating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing on March 3. The event, held both in person and online with 22 coastal provinces and cities, reviewed progress in implementing the EC’s recommendations and preparing for its fifth inspection mission. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the 32nd meeting of the national steering committee for combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing on March 3, which was held in person at the Government headquarters in Hanoi and connected online with 22 coastal provinces and cities.

- The Embassy of Japan held a formal reception in Hanoi on March 3 evening to celebrate the 66th birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito.

Speaking at the event on behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung underlined that after nearly 53 years of establishing diplomatic relations and more than two years since the elevation of ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world, the bilateral relationship has developed comprehensively, substantively and effectively across all fields, underpinned by a high level of political trust. - All three acts presented by the Vietnam Circus Federation secured awards at the International Circus Festival Gold Elephant (Festival Internacional del Circ Elefant d’Or 2026), held in Girona, Spain, from February 27 to March 3.

According to Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, the festival brought together participants from 18 countries, featuring 75 artists and performers and 24 outstanding acts selected for competition. - Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung has called on Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to further open their markets for Vietnamese aquatic products.

- The 19th Xuan Hong (Red Spring) Festival officially opened in Hanoi on February 3, with organisers aiming to collect 10,000 units of blood over the course of the campaign.

The event is jointly organised by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) and the Vietnam Youth Association for Blood Donation Advocacy. It is set to run for 10 consecutive days, from February 27 to March 8, at multiple venues across the capital. Read full story

- The National Steering Committee for Search, Collection and Identification of Martyrs' Remains held a conference in Hanoi on March 3 to roll out its 2026 tasks, during which it launched a nationwide "500-Day-and-Night Campaign" to speed up efforts to identify and repatriate martyrs’ remains.
