– Party General Secretary To Lam, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission, on November 20 visited and worked with Navy Region 5 under the Vietnam People’s Navy in Phu Quoc special zone, as part of his working trip to the southern province of An Giang.
Praising the outstanding achievements of officers and soldiers of Navy Region 5 in recent times, General Secretary Lam emphasised that the Southwestern waters hold a very important strategic position in terms of national defence and security, as it serves as the shield protecting the southern sky and sea of the Fatherland, and as the frontline of the nation’s march to the open seas. – Party General Secretary and Secretary of the Central Military Commission To Lam has requested the mobilisation of all possible resources to build the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) into an elite, streamlined and strong force advancing directly toward modernisation.
At a working session with the Ministry of National Defence’s Coast Guard Region 4 Command in southern An Giang province on November 20, the Party chief said as requirements for safeguarding maritime sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction become increasingly complex, the VCG, especially the Coast Guard Region 4 Command, must firmly grasp the Party’s viewpoints, principles, and directions on military and defence tasks. – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 19 afternoon met with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who said the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Algeria is a priceless asset that should be maintained, promoted, and lifted to a new height to meet both peoples’ aspirations and interests.
The meeting in Algiers took place shortly after the two countries’ announcement of the upgrade of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership that is expected to herald a new phase of comprehensive and more fruitful cooperation. Read full story
– Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Algerian counterpart Sifi Ghrieb attended the Vietnam – Algeria economic forum in Algiers on November 19 afternoon (local time), seeking to secure a productive and sustainable economic partnership between the two countries.
The forum, held shortly after the two countries elevated their ties to a strategic partnership, brought together more than 500 officials and business representatives from both sides. It reflected the determination of Vietnam and Algeria to quickly implement the new cooperation framework and expand diplomatic, trade, and investment ties, marking the beginning of a deeper and more substantive phase of bilateral cooperation. – President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milos Vystrcil on November 20 met with Czech and Vietnamese enterprises in Hanoi as part of his official visit to Vietnam.
The event was organised by the Czech Embassy in Hanoi, in coordination with the Czech Chamber of Commerce and CzechTrade. It took place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Read full story
– Military units, local authorities, and emergency forces are ramping up relief operations as prolonged torrential rains have triggered devastating floods across Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces in the central region, leaving tens of thousands of households inundated, many communities isolated, and critical infrastructure damaged.
On November 20, Air Force Division 372 deployed two helicopters to carry hundreds of life buoys, life jackets, specialised rescue equipment, and essential supplies to cut-off areas in the two provinces, which have seen water rise rapidly, leaving residents without boats, rescue gear, or access to food and clean water. – With the current progress, Vietnam must disburse an additional 406.601 trillion VND (15.41 billion USD) to fulfil this year’s public investment plan – a highly challenging task that requires strong and decisive action in the rest two months.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) reported that as of November 6, public investment disbursement had reached 495.460 trillion VND, equivalent to 54.9% of the target set by the Prime Minister. Compared with October 30, the sum increased by 18.763 trillion VND, or 2.1 percentage points. Read full story
– Nearly 18 billion cashless transactions were recorded in the first nine months of 2025, with total value surpassing 260 quadrillion VND (nearly 10 billion USD), according to the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV)’s Payment Department.
