- The policies related to social housing and the implementation must be designed to offer the greatest convenience for homebuyers, avoiding any distortion or misinterpretation of these policies, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed on October 24.
Chairing a teleconference with leaders of 17 provinces and cities with a high demand for social housing, PM Chinh, who is head of the Central Steering Committee for Housing Policy and Real Estate Market, called for extra efforts to make breakthroughs in social housing development. Read full story
- National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on October 24 had a meeting with South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, who is on a two-day state visit to Vietnam.
The top Vietnamese legislator stressed that Ramaphosa’s visit marks an important milestone, ushering in a new phase in the bilateral relations, deepening political trust, and strengthening substantive and long-term cooperation for the benefit of the two countries’ people. Read full story
- United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Hanoi on October 24 afternoon, beginning his two-day official visit to Vietnam where he will attend Opening for Signature of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (known as Hanoi Convention).
He was welcomed at Noi Bai international airport by Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, and head of the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the UN Ambassador Do Hung Viet. Read full story
- Ngo Phuong Ly, spouse of Party General Secretary To Lam, visited and met with children at Zvanche Kindergarten No. 2 in Sofia on October 23. She was accompanied by Desislava Radeva, spouse of Bulgarian President Rumen Radev.
Teachers and students welcomed the two ladies with bread dipped in honey and salt, a Bulgarian tradition symbolising hospitality and goodwill. Read full story
- A state funeral was held on the morning of October 24 at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi for Tran Phuong, former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Deputy Prime Minister), who was also a former alternate member of the 4th Party Central Committee and a former member of the 5th Party Central Committee.
The delegation of the Party Central Committee led by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien; the Government delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and the National Assembly delegation led by Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai paid tribute to Phuong, who was also former Minister of Domestic Trade, Vice Chairman of the State Planning Committee and deputy to the 5th National Assembly. - A week-long programme spotlighting the Vietnamese great unity bloc and cultural heritage is set to kick off at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi on November 18, bringing together more than 200 participants representing 18 ethnic communities nationwide.
According to the Department of Culture of Vietnam Ethnic Groups under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the opening ceremony and the 2nd Muong ethnic cultural festival will serve as the highlight of this year. Read full story
- “Mua do” (Red Rain) and Tu chien tren khong” (Death Battle in the Air) - two outstanding recent Vietnamese films - will be screened free of charge for audiences as part of the 2025 Autumn Fair, scheduled to take place from October 25 to November 4 at the Vietnam Exposition Centre in Hanoi’s Dong Anh.
Accordingly, Red Rain will be shown three times daily, at 9:00, 13:45, and 18:30, while Death Battle in the Air will have two daily screenings, at 11:30 and 16:15, from October 26 to November 4, according to the Vietnam Cinema Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. - The launch of Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) is bringing a breath of fresh air to Vietnam’s aviation industry, offering travelers more choices and boosting competition as tourism continues its strong recovery.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in the first nine months of 2025, Vietnamese airlines carried an estimated 43.7 million passengers, up 8.2% from the same period last year. Domestic flights served 29 million passengers, an increase of 7.6%. Tourist routes to popular destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Quy Nhon have maintained seat occupancy rates above 85%, showing strong travel demand and room for further growth. - More than 20 New Zealand companies will take part in the Vietnam–New Zealand trade, investment and business promotion conference to be held within the framework of the Autumn Fair 2025 in Hanoi.
