Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam started an official visit to France from October 7 morning (local time) at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

A red-carpet welcome ceremony was held for him according to national protocol at the Invalides Palace in Paris the same day, which was presided over by French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, sectors, and localities to strive their best to achieve the set growth rate of over 7% for 2024, while presiding over a regular Cabinet meeting connected online with tje 63 provinces and centrally-run cities on October 7.

Analysing the situation and upcoming tasks, Chinh required authorities of all levels, sectors, and localities to keep a close watch on international and domestic developments in order to have appropriate policy response and timely, flexible, and effective solutions, and promptly report any issues that go beyond their power. - Playing an important role in implementing ASEAN’s development vision, Vietnam has made great contributions to policy making and the process of building the ASEAN Community across three pillars of Political-Security Community, Economic Community, and Socio-Cultural Community, stated Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh.

In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency ahead of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s participation in the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related meetings in Vientiane from October 8-11, the Lao diplomat said that Vietnam is a rapidly growing economy and playing an important role in the region. - The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam treasures its sustainable cooperative relationship with the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) of Egypt, Deputy Inspector General Duong Quoc Huy told ACA Deputy Chairman Tamer El Fargany at their meeting on October 7 in Hanoi.

Huy stressed that the Vietnamese agency attaches importance to promoting international cooperation in fighting corruption to enhance the effectiveness of State governance and build a healthy socioeconomic environment. Read full story

- Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung on October 7 proposed a 7.6-8% economic expansion in Quarter 4 following positive results in the previous quarter, helping achieve and exceed the full year target of 7% growth.

At the cabinet's regular meeting which was connected online with 63 provinces and centrally-run cities, Dung stressed the proposal was made based on robust growth trends in various economic sectors, with agricultural production maintaining its growth trajectory, meeting demand of domestic consumption and export, the service sector having enjoyed positive expansion over the past months while industrial production continuing rapid recovery, serving as a motive for the economic growth. - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) on October 5 officially launched its first and only direct flight between Vietnam and Munich, the capital of Bavaria state.

The inaugural flight, VN35, departed from Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport at 00:05. Read full story

- All the 24 students of the Vietnamese team competing at the 21st International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) in China won medals.

They won the Best Exploration Champion trophy and the Best Theoretical Champion trophy, together with nine golds, 14 silvers, and one bronze to finish second in the overall medal table. This is the highest result that Vietnamese students have achieved since their first competition at the IMSO in 2014. Read full story

- A Vietnam Pho festival was held in Seoul on October 5 -6, aiming to further promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK).
