Ambassador stresses people-to-people diplomacy in Vietnam-Russia ties

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi highlighted the importance of people-to-people diplomacy at a meeting with a visiting delegation of the Hanoi-based research institute for environmental protection and community health in Moscow on October 28.

Moscow (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to RussiaDang Minh Khoi highlighted the importance of people-to-people diplomacy at ameeting with a visiting delegation of the Hanoi-based research institute forenvironmental protection and community health in Moscow on October 28.

Trinh Quoc Khanh, head of the institute’s sciencecouncil and Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association,informed the ambassador about the delegation’s agenda in Russia, especiallyactivities to promote cooperation in climate change response, along withactivities by the friendship association to boost relations between the twocountries.

Chairman of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association VladimirBuyanov voiced his support for enhancing bilateral ties in environmentalissues, adding that he hopes partnerships in other spheres will also continueto be stepped up.

Stressing the role of people-to-people diplomacy, Khoi noted Vietnam and Russia have special relations, expressing his hope thatthe two friendship associations will help enhance the two countries’ relations.

He underlined the need to increase delegation exchanges betweenthe two countries, encourage Russian experts in Vietnamese studies, andpopularise the Vietnamese language in Russia.

The diplomat also presented some of the embassy’s activitiesin the time ahead to help bolster bilateral ties and affirmed the goal ofwin-win cooperation.

Appreciating the ambassador’s recommendations, Khanh said hewill report these ideas to the executive board of the Vietnam-Russia FriendshipAssociation to translate them into action./.

Both sides agreed that there is ample room for cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and services. They pledged to step up joint work in the economic, trade, investment, agriculture, port logistics, finance, banking, tourism and transport sectors, as well as other areas of mutual strength. They also plan to continue negotiating agreements on investment protection, aviation and other areas to create a more favourable framework for expanding cooperation.
