With wind speeds of 118-149km per hour, Typhoon Tembin is heading toward the East Sea , according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecast.

However, according to the centre's meteorologist Nguyen Huu Hai, it is too early to say whether the typhoon, forecast to be about 100km off China 's Taiwan Island by 7am on Aug. 25, will hit Vietnam .

Meanwhile, prolonged heavy rains and floods in the northen province of Phu Tho as a result of Storm Kai Tak killed two people on Aug. 23, bringing the total death toll caused by the storm to 29, reported the Central Committee for Flood and Storm Control.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society provided 200 boxes of emergency supplies on Wednesday to families who have suffered heavy losses from the storm.-VNA
