The Association of SoutheastAsian Nations (ASEAN) launched a new video series on ASEANConnectivity to raise public awareness of the opportunities and benefitsof a well-connected region, on the sidelines of t he 47th ASEANForeign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-47) in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
Createdby the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee with the support ofthe Australian Government, the videos showcase and explain the vision,rationale and progress made in advancing ASEAN Connectivity.
Addressing the launching ceremony, Secretary General of ASEAN Le LuongMinh said the videos will help businesses, academia, the media, and thepublic across ASEAN and around the world better understand about theASEAN Connectivity vision, the progress made to date, and the futureeconomy and social impacts created by a truly connected region.
Minh also noted that the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity is astrategic roadmap that sets forth important development objectives inthree key dimensions: Physical Connectivity which includes improvingcritical hard infrastructure projects crucial for increased logisticsand transportation efficiency; Institutional Connectivity which focuseson areas such as trade, investment, services and regulatory issues andPeople-to-People Connectivity, which works to deepen social, culturaland educational initiatives and improve access and mobility for peopleacross the ASEAN region.-VNA
