Australia, Vietnam strive to finalise enhanced economic cooperation strategy

Sydney (VNA) - Officials of Australia and Vietnam are working hard to be able to finalise the Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy,which aims to beef up the bilateral economic ties, in late September, accordingto Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan.

Talking to international journalists during an online conference on September6, Tehan highlighted a bright prospect for economic-trade cooperation betweenthe two countries, saying that Australian and Vietnamese economies arecomplementary.

The trade bondbetween the two nations is constantly growing with many opportunities openingup, he said.

Australia sees great prospects for cooperation with Vietnam in the fields oftraditional, renewable and clean energy, vocational education and training, andimport and export of agricultural products, he went on.

People-to-people diplomacy between Australia and Vietnam has been constantlyexpanded and consolidated, significantly contributing to promoting their bilateralrelations, the minister noted.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison is very interested in and looksforward to seeing new developments in the Australia – Vietnam relationship, headded./.

Can Tho, Guangxi seek collaboration in logistics, supply chains

Chinese investors now back 35 projects in Can Tho with registered capital of nearly 1.2 billion USD. In the first seven months of 2026, Can Tho’s exports to China hit 77.5 million USD, while imports stood at 64.7 million USD. Key exports included rice, seafood, farm produce, processed agricultural products and apparel while main imports comprised agricultural chemicals, veterinary medicines, fertilisers, chemicals, fabrics and other materials and inputs.

Vietnam, Russia move to boost financial cooperation

On bilateral economic, trade and investment ties, Tuan said two-way trade hit 3.24 billion USD in the first seven months of 2026, up 12% from a year earlier. Vietnam’s exports to Russia totaled 1.33 billion USD, while imports amounted to 1.91 billion USD.
