Bac Giang steps up poverty alleviation

The northern province of Bac Giang has set to reduce its poverty rate to 8.5 – 9 percent in 2015 from 19.6 percent in 2010.

By2015, 13 poor communes in Luc Ngan district will strive to halve their2010 poverty rate of 81.38 percent, to 41.08 percent.

To thatend, local authorities and sectors will join hands in providingon-the-spot vocational training courses and generating jobs for localpeople.

Those from poor households or near-poor householdswill be assisted to access impoverishment-relieving policies andhealthcare and educational services.

In 2014, the provinceinvested 17.97 billion VND (845,000 USD) in vocational trainingdevelopment project, including 5.3 billion VND (249,000 USD) forfacilities.

It allocated over 14.9 billion VND (701,000 USD) to carry out vocational training projects for rural labourers.

Vocational centres in the province are currently providing trainingfor 28,860 people and looking forward to training up to 29,780labourers in 2015.

Located 50km to the north of Hanoi, Bac Giang comprises one city and nine districts, seven of which are mountainous.

It is home to 20 ethnic groups, with the most populous ethnicitybeing the Kinh people. The remaining 200,000 residents, 12.5 percent ofthe local population, are ethnic minorities.-VNA

Assignment of settlement authority of district-level administrative procedures must be completed before June 10

They are asked to issue legal documents within their jurisdiction to implement cuts and reassign the authority of settlement at the district level. For procedures requiring government decrees, ministries must submit them to the Ministry of Justice for review by May 10, and to the Government for approval by May 30. Progress on the work must be reported to the PM by May 10.
