The northern province of Lao Cai not only has Sapa, it also has an amazing land called Bac Ha. With wonderful natural beauty and extraordinary culture and history, Bac Ha town is becoming an attractive destination for tourists.

Located close to Bac Ha town, Tả Chải commune is home to nine villages, mostly inhabited by Tay ethnic people.

Visitors to Tả Chải can experience homestay services imbued with traditional cultural values.

"Tourists to my home can learn about our Tay culture. They can also try growing rice, picking plums or cooking with my family," said Ha Thi Van, local resident in Ta Chai commune, Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province.

Villages like Tả Chải are attractive for visitors not only for the pictureque landscape, rustic houses but also local specialities such as corn and plums.

In recent year, Thải Giàng Phố commune has become a hotspot in the country’s tourism map. The once withered fields are now a stunning flower valley, luring visitors to the locality.

Among tourist attractions in Bac Ha district, Bac Ha fair may be the first thing tourists think of.

It is the biggest and most typical market in Lao Cai, held every Sunday morning.

Locals bring anything they have to the fair to sell. Some just go to the fair for a cup of wine, meeting friends and showing off their best costumes.

Bac Ha district welcomed more than 300 tourists arrivals in 2017. Of the total, foreign visitors accounted for more than 25 percent. The province raked in nearly 8.4 million USD from tourism.-VNA
