Cambodia pledges fair competition in 32nd SEA Games

Cambodia is committed to fair competition in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), to be held for the first time in the country this May, the Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) has said.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodia is committed to fair competition in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), to be held for the first time in the country this May, the Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) has said.

Vath Chamroeun, Secretary-General of CAMSOC, said his country will guarantee fair competition in the 32nd SEA Games, and that it has strongly followed rules of the Southeast Asian Games Federation (SEAGF) and made consultation before making decisions.

By now, Cambodia has finished all the infrastructure serving the SEA Games, especially accommodation for athletes, he noted, adding that everything has finished, and the country is ready to welcome both athletes and visitors to the biggest regional sports event.

The 32nd SEA Games, themed “Sports: Live in Peace”, is scheduled to take place from May 5 to 17. Regional athletes are set to compete in 37 sports, including three traditional ones of Cambodia which are Ok Chaktrong (a type of chess), along with Bokator and Kun Khmer (martial arts).

Competitions will be held in Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kep, and Kampot, according to CAMSOC./.
