Cambodia, UK discuss climate plan

UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and Cambodian Minister of Environment Say Sam Al discussed Cambodia’s climate plan before the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) and common priorities towards carbon emission neutralisation, forest regeneration, biodiversity and illegal wildlife prevention during their meeting on June 23.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and CambodianMinister of Environment Say Sam Al discussed Cambodia’s climate plan before the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26)and common priorities towards carbon emission neutralisation, forestregeneration, biodiversity and illegal wildlife prevention during their meetingon June 23.

Raab mentioned closecommitments between the two nations, including the 30th anniversaryof the UK’s embassy opening in Cambodia. He also lauded Cambodia for itsachievements in economy, trade, health care and education.

Say Sam Al informedRaab about Cambodia’s successes in environment and natural resources protection.

According to him, theUK could assist Cambodia in environment such as supply of human resources, andtrade.

He suggested the UKconsider buying Cambodia’s carbon emission credits, which could be used forwildlife protection, economic development and improvement of people’slivelihoods./.
