Phnom Penh (VNA) – The US's Denver Art Museum on March 28 officially returned a sandstone sculpture dating back to the 10th century to Cambodia.

The torso of Rama had been in the museum's collection for nearly 30 years before its return, according to the Cambodia Express News.

The piece was handed over to Cambodia following new research on its provenance.

It stands 1.52m high and was acquired by the Denver Art Museum in 1986 from Doris Weiner Gallery in New York in 1986.

Following its repatriation, the torso will be displayed at an Asian arts museum in Phnom Penh.-VNA
