Accordingly, as many as 6,616,110 people nationwide cast their votes,accounting for 68.38 percent of the voters numbering 9,675,453.
Initial official results show that the ruling Cambodian People’s Party(CPP) got 3,227,729 votes, while the main opposition Cambodia NationalRescue Party (CNRP) gained 2,941,133votes.
Other minor parties occupied the remaining votes.
The official seats at the fifth National Assembly will be identifiedbasing on the final results which will be announced after all thecomplaints about the poll results are settled.
Earlier, sources in Cambodia said that the CPP won the majority of68 parliamentary seats while the CNRP got the remaining 55 seats.
CNRP, however, rejected the results and called forthe NEC to establish a joint committee to investigate irregularitiesduring the poll. It has also threatened to stage demonstrationsnationwide on August 4.-VNA
