Phnom Penh (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang has bid farewell to top Cambodian leaders as his working tenure in the country is coming to an end.
From December 9-25, Tang was received by King Norodom Sihamoni, President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and President of the Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen, National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary, Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, and other senior leaders and former leaders of Cambodia.
At the meetings, both sides looked back at the achievements in the relationship of good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries over the past period, especially during the working term of Ambassador Tang. They reaffirmed their commitment to continued efforts to further develop the bilateral cooperation, the good neighbourliness and traditional friendship which has been built and continuously nurtured over more than half a century.
At the meeting with the Vietnamese ambassador on December 25, Hun Sen appreciated the contributions of the ambassador personally, as well as the embassy, in strengthening and nurturing the bilateral relationship and cooperation in all areas.
He expressed his hope that the two countries continue strengthening and promoting cooperation in the areas of politics, economics, trade, and tourism, for the benefit of their people, as well as for peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
On this occasion, Hun Sen presented the Royal Order of Sahametrei - Moha Sena class to recognise Tang's significant contributions. The order, conferred by the King through a royal decree, honours diplomatic officials who have made substantial contributions to fostering traditional friendship with Cambodia.
Receiving the Vietnamese diplomat on December 12, Khuon Sodary highlighted the ambassador's role as a bridge and coordinator in implementing Vietnam’s 25 million USD aid package to help Cambodia build a new administrative building for the National Assembly, as well as in arranging the official visit to Cambodia by Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the state visit of King Norodom Sihamoni to Vietnam in November.
The top Cambodian legislator affirmed that the Cambodian National Assembly is willing and eager to cooperate closely with the new Vietnamese Ambassador to continue achieving common goals for the prosperity of the two peoples and for people around the world.
Earlier on December 10, PM Hun Manet received Ambassador Tang, during which he agreed to further enhance the effectiveness of bilateral economic, trade, investment, and tourism collaboration to create new momentum for strengthening cooperation in other areas.
Tang shared that with his 44 years of service associated with Cambodia, he always has the deepest affection for the country and its people. He affirmed that, regardless of his future position, he will continue to nurture and strengthen the traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia./.
