Condolences pour in over deaths of three HAGL football club members

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang has extended his condolences to the families of victims in a severe traffic accident in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, which resulted in the death of three members of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) football club.

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister TranLuu Quang has extended his condolences to the families of victims in a severe trafficaccident in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, which resulted in the death of three members of the Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) football club.  

The car carrying the three members of the HAGL Clubwas running on National Highway 14 in Chu Puh district, Gia Lai province, wherethe club is based, when it was hit by a truck from behind at around 3 p.m onAugust 12.

The collision pushed the car towards another truckrunning on the opposite direction and it ended up squeezed in between the twotrucks.

The club has confirmed that the accident resulted inthe deaths of Duong Minh Ninh, the team's deputy director and coach, doctor DaoTrong Tri, and Portuguese footballer Paollo Madeira Olivera. Meanwhile, itsdriver was rushed to hospital with injuries.

The accident occurred after their match against SongLam Nghe An in the second leg of the V.League 1 2023.

After learning about the accident, Deputy PM Quang, who is also Chairmanof the National Traffic Safety Committee, assigned a delegation to coordinatewith local leaders in handling its consequences, and visit the families of thevictims.

The same day, the Vietnam Professional Football (VPF)Company sent letters of condolences to the football club and families of thedeceased.

Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) TranQuoc Tuan also extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased and theHAGL club through a letter of condolences.

He said: "The VFF is deeply saddened by thisdistressing news. On behalf of the VFF Executive Committee, I would like toconvey my deepest condolences to the families of the departed members and theHAGL Club. This is an enormous loss for Vietnamese football and the HAGL Club.

“The VFF appeals to all Vietnamese coaches,footballers, and teams participating in the V.League 1 2023 to unite with thevictims' families, offering support and solidarity during this challengingtime. We will always cherish the memories and positive impact of coach Tri, andplayer Paollo, while continuing to foster the growth of HAGL."

Former national coach Park Hang-seo also expressed hiscondolences to HAGL in the wake of this tragic accident.
"I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident thathas led to the passing of the player, coach, and doctor of HAGL Club. Myheartfelt condolences go out to their families and friends. I hope thateveryone gets over this loss soon."

Numerous coaches and players participating in theV.League 1 have also expressed their condolences to the families of the victimsand the HAGL Club.

The investigation police agency under the Gia LaiDepartment of Public Security said on August 13 that it has decided to seizeDinh Tien Binh, driver of a truck involved in the accident, to investigate his violationsof transport regulations./.

Tien Giang steps up efforts to eliminate substandard houses

According to the Tien Giang People’s Committee, 485 homes for policy beneficiaries, families of war martyrs, and low-income households will be supported. Of these, 284 new homes will be built, and 201 existing ones repaired, with a total budget of 24.1 billion VND (about 984,000 USD). As of March 6, construction had started on 166 houses, with 32 already completed.

Bac Giang to eliminate substandard houses by November

Local authorities have identified 795 homes of poor and near-poor households and individuals with recognised service to the nation that qualify for support. Of these, 475 require complete reconstruction and 320 need significant repairs, with estimated costs totaling 39 billion VND (1.53 million USD).
