Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded 16,377 cases of COVID-19 in 62 localities during 24 hours from 4pm December 22 to 4pm December 23, including 10 imported cases, according to the Ministry of Health

Hanoi recorded the highest number of infections with 1,774, followed by Ca Mau with 1,167 and Tay Ninh with 949.

The national tally reached 1,604,712.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 7,493 patients nationwide are in serious conditions, with 882 requiring invasive ventilation and 18 on life support (ECMO).

On the day, the country saw 280 deaths from the disease. The death toll now hits 30,531 equal to 1.9 percent of the total caseload.

A further 10,944 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,184,428.  

By December 22, the country had injected over 142.34 million doses of vaccines to date, with more than 64.1 million people now fully inoculated, while over 1.7 million third shots, either booster shots or the third shot of Abdala vaccine have been administered./.
