Hanoi (VNA) – A high-level delegation from Cuba’s Young Communist League (UJC) is paying a working visit to Vietnam to learn about the Southeast Asian country’s youth education and training to contribute to the national building, defence and development.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tong Thi Phong hosted a reception for the delegation, led by UJC First Secretary Susely Morfa González in Hanoi on May 18.

She said the visit of the UJC delegation took place on the occasion of the 128th birthday anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh – a great leader of the Vietnamese nation and people (May 19, 1890) and the 123th death anniversary of Cuban leader Jose Marti (May 19, 1895).

The legislator congratulated Cuba on the successful organisation of the elections of the People’s Councils at all levels and the National Assembly of People’s Power in March this year.

She expressed her belief that the Cuban Party, State and people will continue implementing effectively the revolutionary tasks and the update of its set economic model.

The NA Vice Chairwoman highlighted the special friendship and traditional relations between Vietnam and Cuba.

The State-level visit to Cuba by Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong in March re-affirmed the special amity and solidarity between the two countries, which have become a symbol of the era and valuable asset of the two countries’ Parties and people, she said.

She noted that the relations between the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Cuba’s Young Communist League have been reinforced and developed through cooperation programmes.

For her part, Susely Morfa González expressed Cuban leaders and people’s admiration for the resilience of Vietnamese people in the past national liberation as well as the current national construction and development.

She affirmed that Cuban young generations are aware of preserving and promoting the special solidarity between the two countries.-VNA
