DeputyMinister Vinh spoke highly of the growing comprehensive partnership,including defence ties, between Vietnam and the US, adding that the twosides should exert more efforts to carry out contents of the 2011Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral defence cooperation.

He asked the US to provide more assistance and share experience withVietnam in the building of a peacekeeping force and personnel training,while paying more attention to joint activities in mine clearance andovercoming war consequences.

The Vietnamese defenceofficial also suggested furthering the relations between the twocountries’ navies and marine police forces as well as cooperation in thesearch for missing-in-action (MIA) servicemen in Vietnam.

Perez thanked the Vietnamese government and army for facilitating theMIA search. He said the US will continue to recommend suitable models inmine clearance and peacekeeping force building to Vietnam.

The same day, Deputy Defence Minister Vinh also greeted AmbassadorStefano Toscano, Director of the Geneva International Centre forHumanitarian Demining (GICHD).-VNA

Legislators will look into and adopt a resolution amending and supplementing several articles to the Constitution 2013, the top legislator said, describing this a strategic task of both political and legal significance to institutionalise the Party’s major policies, especially the reorganisation of the state apparatus towards a streamlined and efficient structure that is closer to the people and more responsive to reality.
