– Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt. Gen. NguyenChi Vinh received French Ambassador to Vietnam Bertrand Lortholary in Hanoi onFebruary 18.

The host officer expressed his delight at theflourishing relations in all aspects between the two countries, which marked 45years of their diplomatic ties and five years of the strategic partnership in2018.

Within the relationship, defence cooperation hasplayed an important role and been continually enhanced, especially betweennaval and air forces and in the defence industry, military medicine, and UnitedNations peacekeeping activities, Vinh noted.

For his part, Ambassador Lortholary said that inhis position, he will make more efforts to help develop bilateral defence tiesin 2019 and the following years.

He added that the first Vietnam-France strategicdialogue at the deputy defence ministerial level will be held this year, whichwill be critical to the implementation of the outcomes reached during theofficial visit to France by Vietnamese Minister of National Defence Ngo XuanLich in September 2018.–VNA
