Deputy PM, FM holds talk with Cuban FM

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Cuban FM Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla have pledged to intensify efforts to deepen the two countries’ cooperation on bilateral and multilateral issues.

During the talks, the two foreign ministers discussed measures tofoster solidarity and comprehensive collaboration between the twocountries and ministries. They also exchanged their views on regionaland global issues of mutual concern.

The Cuban guestpraised Vietnam’s achievements during its renewal process. He alsohighly valued the cooperation between the two countries in multilateralforums, international organisations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and EastAsia-Latin America Cooperation Forum

Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla also affirmed that Cuba valued Vietnam ’s consistent support to Cuba in the past.

For his part, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign MinisterPham Binh Minh reiterated that Vietnam always thought highly of thetraditional relationship, fraternal solidarity and comprehensivecooperation with Cuba.

Both sides agreed that thesolidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba had beenconsolidated and further developed recently, marked by Vietnamese PrimeMinister Nguyen Tan Dung’s official visit to Cuba in March 2014.

The two ministers also agreed to facilitate the implementation of thehigh-level cooperation agreements signed by the two governmentsrecently. Via the inter-governmental economic and scientific committee,the two countries should expand their bilateral collaboration in thefields of commerce, agriculture, oil and gas, biotechnology, andconstruction.

On this occasion, the two sides agreed to co-organise the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.

Later that day, the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla metwith General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen PhuTrong, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and Vice Chairwoman of theNational Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. The Cuban foreign minister alsomet with Hoang Binh Quan, the head of the CPV’s Central Committee’sCommission for External Relations.-VNA

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
