Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam always works closely with Timor Leste to fosterbilateral ties for the sake of peace, stability and prosperity in SoutheastAsia, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh assured TimorLeste Ambassador to Vietnam Pascoela Barreto dos Santos during a reception inHanoi on August 15.

Minhcongratulated Timor Leste on successfully holding the presidential election inMarch 2017 and the parliamentary election for the 2017-2022 tenure in July2017.

Hethanked the Timor Leste government for creating favourable conditions for theState-run military telecom provider Viettel and Vietnamese citizens living inthe country over the past years.

Thehost asked the ambassador to actively liaison with the two countries’ agencies tomake it easier for Vietnamese businesses to invest in oil and gas andagriculture in Timor Leste.

TheTimor Leste ambassador expressed her delight at witnessing expansive, practicaland effective bilateral ties in diverse areas, especially intelecommunications.

She pledged to do her best to further enhancerelations between the two countries. -VNA
