Dien Bien (VNA) – The northwestern province of Dien Bien on January 12 held a ceremony to rebury the remains of nine Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives in Laos during wartime.

The remains were found by the 2nd Military Region of the Vietnam People’s Army, with support of the Lao authorities.

Major General Pham Duc Duyen, Deputy Political Commissar of the 2nd Military Region, said that in 2017, it found and handed over a total of 44 Vietnamese soldier remains to Dien Bien province.

In 2018, the 2nd Military Region will continue the project to clear unexploded ordnances and search for soldier remains in Ha Giang province.-VNA
