The event was held to review how Dien Bien has implemented the lawon prevention and control of domestic violence over the past five years.
Incidents of domestic violence dropped from 800 in 2009to 530 last year. In the first half of this year, the locality recordedjust over 240 cases. Almost 90 percent of which were brought againstmen.
It is partly thanks to the active support of 73 clubsand 210 quick-response teams with some 2,000 members. They are workingto raise public awareness of the fight against domestic violence via thespread of legal publications across the locality.
To reducethe number of cases, the province will issue more criteria to betterthe combat while paying attention to dissemination in remote andmountainous areas with a priority given to personnel training.
Hotlines will be launched while groups specialising in marriage and reconciliation consultation will be established soon.-VNA
