DOC receives petitions for anti dumping investigation on VN’s plastic bags

Hanoi (VNA) - The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has received petitions on ananti-dumping investigation into polyethyleneretail carrier bags (plastic bags) from Vietnam, reported the Department ofTrade Defence under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam.

According to the department, the productssubject to these investigations are laminated woven sacks (LWS) comprised ofone or more plies of fabric consisting of woven polypropylene strip and/orpolyethylene strip that is laminated to an exterior ply of plastic filmimported from Vietnam, coded HS 6305.33.0040, 3917.39.0050, 3921.90.1100,3921.90.1500, 3923.21.0080, 3923.21.0095, 3923.29.0000, 4601.99.0500,4601.99.9000, 4602.90.0000 and 5903.90.2500.

The petitions were filed by Polytex FibersCorporation and ProAmpac LLC. They have alleged that LWS products from Vietnamare under government subsidies and sold in the US at less than normal value,causing significant losses for US domestic production.

The DOC has 20 days to examine the petitions inaccordance of US law and will announce to initiate the investigation or not onMarch 27. - VNA
