Dolphin Plaza wins 2012 Architecture first prize

The Dolphin Plaza building in Hanoi’s outlying district of Tu Liem, won first prize in the 2012 Vietnam National Architecture Awards – marking the first victory by a luxury apartment complex.

Designed byarchitect Tan Jiann Woei, the 28-storey condominium complex won praisefrom the jury for its modern design and eco-friendly orientation.

Secondprizes were presented to five "outstanding" architectural works anddesign projects: a book by Pham Duc Nguyen on the development ofsustainable and green architecture in Vietnam, Vincom Village in Hanoi(architect Nguyen Anh Vinh), Can Tho city's ferry station, the Dai LaiConference Centre in Vinh Phuc (architect Vo Trong Nghia) and the DakLak Museum (architect Tien Thuan).

The organising board also presented 17 third prizes and 15 consolation prizes as well as two certificates of merit.

The awards will be presented on April 26 during a ceremony in Hanoito mark the 65th anniversary of the Viet Nam Architects' Association(VAA).

The biennial awards were jointly held by the VAA, theMinistry of Construction and the Ministry of Culture, Sports andTourism.

As many as 15 publications, 24 urban planning and design projects and 101 architectural works competed this year.-VNA

Four key community projects launched in central localities

JCI Da Nang introduced four flagship projects for 2025, including VietBlood, which promotes health awareness and early diabetes screening among young workers; Thap Sang (lighting up), installing solar lights for disadvantaged communities in central Vietnam; 19 Train, which supports career development for students in the region; and Your Dreams, raising autism awareness and providing training for parents and teachers.

Dong Nai launches ceramic festival

Bien Hoa ceramics are famous with a unique celadon glaze, “vert de Bien Hoa.” The “vert de Bien Hoa” glaze is made from ash glazes and copper alloys, which emerged in the 1920s. It is used to make large flower vases, animal statues, or roof tiles.
