Donation campaign launched in Laos to support typhoon victims

The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos on September 15 launched a donation campaign to support people who have been affected by Typhoon Yagi.

Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos on September 15 launched a donation campaign to support people who have been affected by Typhoon Yagi.

The campaign, in response to the appeal of the General Secretary and President To Lam and Vietnam Fatherland Front, raised nearly 1.4 billion VND (57,000 USD) in just a few hours.

According to Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Vietnam in Laos Phan Minh Chien, part of the donation will be given to typhoon-hit localities in northern Laos while the rest will be sent to typhoon victims in Vietnam.

As of 5:30 pm on September 15, Typhoon Yagi and its remnants have left 330 people dead or missing in Vietnam including 292 fatalities. It also caused severe flooding in Laos, Thailand and Myanmar, affecting thousands./.
