DPRK leader arrives in Singapore

Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un on June 10 arrived in Singapore, where he is scheduled to have a historic meeting with US President Donald Trump on June 12.

Singapore (VNA) – Leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un on June 10 arrived in Singapore, where he is scheduled to have a historic meeting with US President Donald Trump on June 12.

Earlier, a plane of the Air China carrying the DPRK leader landed at Singapore’s Changi airport at 2:37 pm (Singapore time). The airplane was said to depart from the DPRK at 8:30am (local time) the same day.

Afterwards, the DPRK leader is set to meet with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong before attending the US-DRPK summit.

The Ilyushin-76 cargo plane of the DPRK’s Air Kyryo carrying cars, food and necessities previously landed at Singapore. According to local media, the DPRK delegation came to Singapore on three aircraft, including the Ilyushin-76, Ilyushin-62M passenger jet and a Boeing 747 of Air China.

Kim Jong-un and the DPRK delegation will be staying at the St. Regis Singapore Hotel. The venue is close to the Shangri-La Hotel, where US President Donald Trump and the US delegates will be lodging during the trip.

The White House said that the airplane carrying US President Donald Trump is expected to land at Singapore’s Paya Lebar military airbase at 8:35pm (local time). He is scheduled to meet the Singaporean PM on June 11.

Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong announced that the country is estimated to spend 20 million SGD (about 15.3 million USD) organising the historic US-DPRK summit, with half of the amount for ensuring security.-VNA
