Hanoi (VNA) - Eight centralcoastal provinces will continue enjoying assistance in constructing storm- andflood-resilient homes for poor households under Decision No. 48/2014/QD-TTg,the Ministry of Construction announced.
According to the ministry, five provinces joiningthe project funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) – Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, ThuaThien-Hue, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai – continue implementing Decision No.48 tothe end of 2021. For the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, and Binh Dinh, thedue date is 2020.
To effectively implement Decision no. 48,the provincial authorities have been asked to carefully select households basedon their eligibility to receive support and to make detailed annual plans onpolicy implementation to report to the Ministry of Construction, the Ministryof Finance, and the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
The localities have also been asked tomobilise local funds to build houses and work with the Vietnam Bank for SocialPolicies to grant loans to households. The localities are considering buildinghouses for people not living along the coast but still exposed to naturaldisasters.
Households in the five provinces chosen toreceive support under the Green Climate Fund project will enjoy an assistanceof 1,700 USD each.
In preparation for the coming storm andflood season, the provincial authorities have been asked to release a list ofhigh-risk areas to help identify households in need of support.-VNA
