Hanoi (VNA) – The establishment of forums by the Party and State of Vietnam to enable people, including overseas Vietnamese, to contribute opinions to major national affairs is a sound policy that reflects a spirit of democracy, openness and respect for practical insights, while mobilising the collective intellect of the entire nation, Vietnamese entrepreneurs and intellectuals living and working in Laos have said.

Pham Thi Minh Huong, Vice Chairwoman of the Business Association of Vietnamese Overseas and an investor in Laos, said that broad consultations help the Party and State's policies better reflect reality, while creating opportunities for overseas Vietnamese to express aspirations and contribute experience gained abroad. This approach demonstrates the consistent policy of regarding overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the nation and a valuable resource for national development, she said.

According to Huong, the Party and State’s attention and willingness to listen help strengthen trust and motivation among overseas Vietnamese, encouraging them to remain connected with and accompany the homeland. She affirmed her readiness to contribute policy ideas, share management experience, support technology transfer and assist in human resource training, particularly for younger generations.

As a Vietnamese entrepreneur in Laos, Huong expressed her desire to contribute through practical and long-term actions. Huong said that she and other Vietnamese enterprises have made sustained efforts to invest and operate effectively, comply strictly with the host country's laws, and build a professional and reputable image for Vietnamese businesses, thereby enhancing their standing in regional markets.

She has also actively engaged in social welfare activities in Laos, including disaster relief, infrastructure development and community support, while encouraging overseas Vietnamese to participate in activities oriented towards the homeland, especially during times of hardship. Huong expressed her confidence that the sincere contributions of the Vietnamese community in Laos not only support Vietnam’s sustainable development in the new period but also further strengthen the special Vietnam–Laos relationship.

Sharing similar views, Nguyen Thi Lan Chi, Vice Principal of the Nguyen Du Lao–Vietnamese bilingual school in Vientiane, welcomed the Party and State’s efforts to expand forums for public participation, including that of overseas Vietnamese. She said the policy reflects democratic principles, strategic vision and respect for the collective wisdom of the nation, both at home and abroad.

Chi noted that the policy affirms overseas Vietnamese, despite living far from the homeland, are recognised, valued and enabled to contribute to national development. She emphasised her responsibility at the Nguyen Du Lao–Vietnamese bilingual school, not only in education management but also in fostering the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Through curricular and extracurricular activities, including celebrations of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday and major national festivals of both countries, the school has promoted the culture and people of Vietnam and Laos, helping students better understand their heritage while contributing to a positive image of Vietnam among Lao and international friends./.
