Phnom Penh (VNA) – Staff of the VietnameseEmbassy in Cambodia visited expatriate families suffering from landslides inthe Cambodian province of Kandal on January 16.
The delegation offered financial aid to ninefamilies whose houses collapsed during landslides in Kompong Chomlong communeof Leuk Daek district.
Counsellor Nguyen Manh Cuong said the VietnameseParty, State and Government and the Vietnamese Embassy consider overseasVietnamese people, including those in Cambodia, an integral part of thecountry.
He asked the expatriates to integrate intoCambodian society, comply with local law and maintain Vietnam’s traditionalculture.
More than 20,000 people of Vietnamese origin livein eight of the 11 districts of Kandal province. Kompong Chomlong commune aloneis home to over 200 Vietnamese families.
Also on January 16, the embassy’s staff surveyedthe living conditions of about 170 expatriate families in Dey Ach commune ofKien Svay district, Kandal province, so as to provide assistance for them aheadof the Lunar New Year.-VNA
