Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the entire political system to take part in the fight against A/H1N1 flu as the disease showed initial signs of spreading into communities.

In his telegram issued on July 25, PM Dung required heads of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, and cities and provinces to promptly carry out urgent measures to prevent A/H1N1 flu from spreading.

He asked the media and other means of communications to raise public awareness of flu preventive measures so to get the entire people involved in combating the disease.

The PM required centrally-run provincial and municipal leaders to directly instruct anti-A/H1N1 flu activities in their localities in accordance with the adopted Plan against A/H1N1 Pandemic and directly inspect and monitor the implementation of those activities.

He asked the Health Minister to lead round-the-clock surveillance over developments of the disease and prepare necessary drugs and medical facilities for treatment.

The Health Ministry was requested to set up inspection teams to oversee the implementation of preventive measures at localities nationwide, focusing on densely-populated locations where an outbreak of A/H1N1 flu is likely to occur, as well as rural and remote areas.

The PM ordered the Ministry of Education and Training to provide guidance on flu preventive measures for teachers and students and issue a temporary closure of schools if necessary so to prevent the disease from spreading vastly.

Since A/H1N1 flu entered Vietnam on May 30, 2009, the disease remained under control with no fatality confirmed.

A/ H1N1 flu has recently experienced complicated developments in 139 countries and territories and its fatal victims continue to grow./.
