Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has been named in the Top 10 Strong Brands at the announcement ceremony of "Vietnam Strong Brands in 2022" held by Vietnam Economic Review in Hanoi on October 12.

On the theme "Creating and Developing a Green Vietnam Brand," the criteria for evaluating Strong Brands in 2022 focus on the strategies, action programmes and operational results achieved by the business have been clearly shown through the process of digital transformation; green transformation, energy saving, prioritising the use of clean energy.

Along with that is the development of a shared, humanistic and inclusive production and business model; protection of the brand and attaching importance to promoting policies towards employees and the community; business growth recovery indicators after the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the years, EVN has strived to complete the production and business plan, focusing on investing in the construction and development of the power system to well perform the assigned task of "Keeping the main role in ensuring the stable and safe electricity supply for the socio-economic development of the country.”

Currently, the scale of Vietnam's power system has risen to the top of the ASEAN region in terms of installed capacity and transmission lines. Also in the ASEAN region, EVN ranks second in commercial electricity output; 4th on power loss and power supply reliability index; 5th in terms of power supply reliability and labor productivity.

Especially, Vietnam's electricity access index in 2019 reached 88.2/100 points, maintaining the 27th position out of 190 countries and economies in the world and the 4th in the ASEAN region, 2 years ahead of the Government’s targets.

After 6 years (2013-2019), Vietnam's electricity access index has been up 129 steps, which is the index with the most improvement and one of the three best-ranked indexes among the 10 environmental indicators of Vietnam.

Trinh Mai Phuong, Head of EVN’s Communications Department, said that in 2021 and 2022, despite facing many difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, EVN and its member units have successfully completed their dual tasks assigned by the Party and the Government, ensuring electricity supply and preventing epidemics at the same time.

In addition, EVN has five times reduced electricity prices and electricity bills, with a total value of about 17 trillion VND, making an important and practical contribution to the social community. Besides, EVN has also carried out strongly the digital transformation process.

By the end of September 2022, EVN has completed about 87% of the digital transformation plan for the period 2021-2022, in a number of areas that have been basically completed such as administration, business and customer service, and investment. construction. Especially, with its achievements accomplished in digital transformation, for 4 consecutive years, EVN has been honored as an excellent digital transformation enterprise.

For green growth criteria, over the past time, in addition to the renewable energy projects invested by EVN, EVN and its member units have also created favorable conditions for many renewable energy projects to come into operation, contributing to ensuring electricity for socio-economic development...

For nearly 68 years of construction and development, up to now EVN has become the leading energy corporation in the country and in the region. By the end of 2021, the total installed power capacity of the whole system reached 76,620 MW, an increase of nearly 7,500 MW compared to 2020, of which the total capacity of renewable energy sources (wind power, solar power) was 20,670MW, accounting for 27%.
