Fatherland Front leader extends New Year wishes to Buddhism

Hanoi (VNA) - President of theVietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFF CC) Nguyen Thien Nhan paid avisit on January 24 to Most VenerableThich Pho Tue, Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), andBuddhist dignitaries at Vien Minh Pagoda in Hanoi.

TheVFF leader wished the Supreme Patriarch health and happiness so that he can continueto lead the VBS as a part of the national great unity, contributing to thecountry’s development.

Nhanalso extended New Year wishes to the VBS Executive Council and Buddhist followersacross the country.

Heaffirmed that throughout the long course of history, the Vietnamese Buddhismalways upholds the spirit of protecting the country and the people. The VBS hasactively encouraged monks and followers to make contributions to the nation’sDoi Moi, and national development.

Onthe occasion, the VFFCC President expressed his belief that the VBS would continueto participate in emulation movements launched by the VFF and contribute tocementing the national great unity.

MostVenerable Thich Pho wished the Standing Committee of the VFFCC a new year of peace,prosperity, and happiness.-VNA
