Flow of tourists to Dak Lak surges 20 percent during Tet

The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak served nearly 140,000 visitors during the 2018 Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays, a rise of 20 percent year-on-year, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Dak Lak (VNA) –The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak served nearly 140,000 visitors duringthe 2018 Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays, a rise of 20 percent year-on-year, accordingto the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Of the figure, 138,000 were domesticvisitors and more than 1,800 were foreign tourists.

The province earned about7.58 billion VND (333,000 USD) from tourism services.

Tourist destinations whichdrew the most number of visitors in the period include Buon Don tourist centre,Ko Tam Ecotourism, Ako Dhong village, Dray Nur and Dray Sap waterfalls, TrohBur Orchid Reserve and Yok Don National Park.

Nguyen Duc, manager of the BuonDon tourist centre, said the surge in the number of visitors to the centre wasattributable to favourable weather during the Tet holidays. The centre welcomed30,000 holidaymakers between February 16 and 22 (the first and seventh day ofthe new lunar year).

Aside from annualactivities, this year, the tourist centre also introduced a space of gongculture in the Central Highlands, as well as other traditional instruments andlocal cuisine to visitors, he added.

In early February 2018, theprovincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism instructed all touristdestinations, restaurants and hotels to prepare tourism personnel and not toovercharge visitors.-VNA
